Dr. Jonathan Berns
Founder & CEO
Dr. Jonathan Berns is the founder of Suncoast Spinemed and a chiropractic physician who has devoted over two decades of his career to the diagnosis and treatment of traumatic injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents.
He is a second-generation chiropractor and graduate of the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa — world renowned as the birthplace of chiropractic medicine. Dr. Berns also holds a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was a member of the Big Ten Fighting Illini football program.
Originally from Iowa, Dr. Berns has called Tampa home since 2007. Over more than two decades of active clinical practice here, he has become a widely recognized and sought-after clinician in the Tampa Bay personal injury and medical community — known for his thorough approach to traumatic injury evaluation, his extensive work in trauma-related diagnostic imaging including Digital Motion X-Ray, and his deep involvement in medical-legal documentation throughout his career.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Berns has served as a consultant, speaker, and author in the personal injury and chiropractic space, working extensively with physicians, health systems, and organizations across Florida. His consulting engagements have included high-profile work with some of the largest personal injury healthcare operations in the state.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Berns is a devoted father to his three children and an active member of the Tampa Bay community. As part of his dedication to giving back to his neighbors and profession, he currently serves on the boards of three non-profit organizations:

oversight, evaluation, and pharmaceutical management when clinically indicated as part of our comprehensive injury care team.
One of Dr. Huffman's most valuable contributions to our patients is his availability through Suncoast Spinemed's in-house telemedicine service. Accident patients can see Dr. Huffman virtually — from anywhere, at any time — for the medical evaluation required to establish emergency medical condition status under Florida's PIP
insurance statute. These evaluations can typically be completed within 24 hours of contact, helping ensure patients meet Florida's 14-day medical evaluation requirement without delay.
